Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (ISWMP) Guide: User Guide UG-2084-ENV - Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), April 2009, (121 pgs.), This Guide assists those responsible for solid waste management at Navy installations – Environmental Coordinators, Planners, Public Works Officers, and Facility Maintenance Officers, and ultimately installation Commanding Officers – by providing a generic framework for developing and implementing an Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (ISWMP). It addresses all elements of ISWMP development including: diversion goals, ISWM strategies, plan development and implementation, waste stream analysis, awareness programs, and potential impediments to implementation. A generic template is also included, which can be tailored to account for variations in location, State legislation, mission, recyclable markets, and other factors unique to individual installations. Success Stories highlighting increased diversion of nonhazardous solid waste are provided in Appendix A. Additional appendices provide reference material to assist with ISWMP development.
