Legal Requirements: Service-Specific Criteria
Each federal facility is approaching EMS implementation according to the specific environmental
policies, directives, and missions of their Agency. Agency-specific environmental requirements
and policies must be included in the EMS Legal and Other Requirements for each facility. These
requirements may be in the form of policy statements, regulations, directives,
instructions, guides, or manuals that address specific environmental issues.
It is the responsibility of each federal facility to ascertain and evaluate the
agency-specific criteria that impact their environmental operations and EMS aspects.
